Save Our Shirt – Paddy Power

Football fans wearing their team’s colours have become walking billboards for corporate sponsors. And betting companies are some of the worst culprits for degrading the fan’s most sacred piece of supporters wear. 

So we helped Irish bookmaker, Paddy Power, address the issue in an intentionally provocative and mischievous way. Then we did something about the problem, that made a bold statement to the sporting world.

First, the bait. A heinous ‘hen do’-style Paddy Power sash was splashed across the front of Huddersfield’s shirt for a pre-season friendly. Cue social media meltdowns, rants from journalists, and even a fine from the FA.

Then, the switch. We announced to the world that we were, in fact, unsponsoring Huddersfield Town, relinquishing the front of shirt space Paddy Power are entitled to as part of the sponsorship deal. We gave the shirt back to the fans.

And it didn’t end there, with three other football clubs signing up to have their shirts unsponsored by Paddy.
